Olga’s Kitchen Celebrates Easy Dinners for Back to School

With fall here, school is back in session and many kids are participating in sports and other extra curricular activities. While all of this is going on, it’s hard to find time to make dinner, especially something for those picky eaters and providing healthy full options for on the go quickly.

With Olga’s Kitchen, meal prep (and even clean up) is taken care of!

Olga Loizon made a trip to the Mediterranean to visit family and had a visit to the local market to taste souvlaki, a traditional Greek sandwich made of meat and vegetables wrapped in pita bread, Olga decided to bring her heritage home to Detroit.

Olga asked her uncle to buy the rotisserie for the meat as it was frowned upon for women to own businesses at the time. And with the rotisserie and two years of perfecting pita dough, she began Olga’s Kitchen in the 60s. When shopping one day she passed a closing shoe store, and that began her legacy. As the first local woman to secure a loan of that kind, she was met with doubt but she never gave up. And now Olga’s Kitchen has 26 shops and is ever growing.

Offering things such as the original Olga which is pita stuffed with lamb, beef, tomatoes, onion and her signature sauce, to the many varieties of Olga’s such as chicken and turkey, to chicken shawarma, to fajitas and so much more, Olga’s Kitchen has something for everyone.

We were invited to make a trip down to a local Olga’s Kitchen in the Woodland Mall and try out some of their delicious food as part of their Mommy Blogger event last week. I have to say I’m in love with Olga’s food. And I’m super picky.

We decided to grab two Original Olga’s and a chicken strips kids meal. Of course Rory wanted fries which she loved. I got the Olga’s fries with mine which were curly fries with feta cheese and her signature Olga sauce. Hubby got Zuccini fries which were fried breaded strips of zuccini. Both sides were absolutely amazing. Although I think I prefer the zuccini fries and will be getting them next time I go in.

The Original Olga’s were perfect. The meat was so tender and flavorful. The sauce was perfect. It had a little tang and was evenly across the sandwich. The bread wasn’t overly dry, making it so easy to eat. One sandwich was a lot so we definitely had left overs to take home which made snack later even better. Even reheated the food was amazing.

The staff was super friendly. We were greeted immediately and taken very well care of. Our meals were brought out really quickly. The entire place was very clean. We will be eating at Olga’s kitchen again very soon.
